A month ago I wrote a post called Spiritual Warfare Prayers and I promised that I’d follow-up with another. If you haven’t already read my last post on this topic I suggest that you do so, or this one may not make any sense and/or may be a bit confusing. Also, in that post you will find a link to a book on Amazon called Spiritual Warfare Prayers that the priest and his assistant had given me while they were at my home. Again, please refer back to the previous post so that this will all be clear to you.
Those of you who have been following my blog from the beginning have most likely already read what I’m about to say, and maybe even more than once. I realize that to you, I will be repeating myself here. But for those of you who are just stopping by for a quick visit and/or who are new subscribers of my blog, I feel that it’s necessary to repeat what I’d said in my post titled Demonic Activity before I continue with this post.
Spiritual Warfare Prayers and My Personal Approach
Let me first say that (as most of you regular readers have probably figured out by now) whenever I write about a topic it is with the sole purpose of sharing my own personal insights and experiences and never to assert myself in such a way as to assume any sort of position of expertise. In other words, I have never and will never claim to be the authority on any matters in this blog, especially those connected to the area of demonic activity. All of my research is accurate and based on other people’s research and experiences and/or Church teaching. But I will never go so far as to claim to be the expert on anything where there is either room for doubt or where people’s opinions come into play. In fact, I think that the area of demonic activity in particular needs to be reserved for the few experts there are who have actually either intensely studied demonology and/or who are members of the clergy (such as priests or bishops) who have had experience in the field.
Spiritual Warfare Prayers – Good News and Bad News
I have good news and bad news concerning Father G.’s visit to my home last month. The good news is that I now have this book on spiritual warfare prayers that I didn’t have prior to his visit. There are some very powerful prayers in the book, one of which I will include at the end of this post. The bad news is that Father G. did not return any of my five follow-up phone calls. I did hear from his assistant after my first phone call which was to let him know of the sulfur smell that had filled my upstairs rooms shortly after they had left my house. But first of all, that was his assistant calling me back, not Father G, whom I’d wanted to speak with. Also, after that phone call I had placed four others, neither of which were returned by either one of them.
In the meantime, since Father G.’s visit on June 20th, I have been plagued with retaliatory issues on and off (everything from smelling sulfur to feeling physically ill to my dog getting targeted) and I am feeling somewhat abandoned and slightly hurt by the lack of follow-up and absence of sensitivity toward my problems. I mean, it’s not like he wasn’t here at my home saying a Mass, blessing water, salt and olive oil for my “spiritual ammunition”, removing a black cat picture from my wall and insisting on taking it with him to throw it out, acknowledging that there was something wrong here. . . . . . . So, what’s going on? Why the silence? Where are the return phone calls? Where is he?
Spiritual Warfare Prayers and the Church
It’s time the Church started acknowledging that demonic affliction is a real problem for many people and that these people need help! Why is it that no one wants to talk about it? Do you know that there are people within my own family and in my own social circle who want nothing to do with this topic? Thank God I can turn to you readers for a listening ear, helpful insights and suggestions and the acknowledgement that what I am experiencing is not a figment of my wild imagination or a “ghost” in my attic. This is not a silly, frivolous matter that passes with one’s passing moods. Within the last several months one of my parish priests actually suggested that I just needed to “get happier” and “think positive” and “focus on happy stuff.” Well, I have no problem with any of that – and he’s right! We should all try to keep ourselves in a positive frame of mind and live our lives with a happy resolve and a bright outlook. But PLEASE with the Pollyanna talk!
This is a serious issue that needs attention and the Church needs to stop worrying about who will be scared off from the Catholic faith if more attention is given to the area of demonic affliction. Maybe, just maybe, more people will actually be drawn to the Catholic faith as a result of the Church not acting as if something that is Biblical simply doesn’t exist in these sophisticated modern times. Also, the spiritual warfare prayers should be promoted by the average parish priests instead of people having to wait to hear about them from the few select priests who are experienced in the healing ministry and exorcism areas. Why aren’t spiritual warfare prayers being prayed at Sunday Mass? Ok, I’ll even revise that question: Why isn’t the Saint Michael Prayer being prayed at Sunday Mass on a regular basis the way it used to be? To quote Michael H. Brown from Spirit Daily in his article titled Removal Of St. Michael Prayer Came As Church Encountered ‘Smoke’ Of Satan:
“It was in 1964 that the new standard was directed, and in 1968 that the new liturgy, minus the prayer, was authorized. What happened in that specific period? Our youth strayed. The choir was replaced by rock bands. Priests were made to feel outcasts. There were even songs dedicated to the devil. Television replaced the majesty of religion. Free sex. Drugs. Abortion. Instead of public prayer there was now public profanity. In the same chronological window that saw elimination of the Michael prayer, the first Church of Satan rose (1966) in the U.S. and the satanic Bible three years later.”
Spiritual Warfare Prayers – Anima Christi
Spiritual warfare prayers are powerful prayers that we should all become familiar with, or at least have easy access to, should we find ourselves in the position of needing spiritual warfare prayers for ourselves or a loved one. In closing, please read this prayer from Spiritual Warfare Prayers which is an old prayer from the 14th Century that means “the soul of Christ.”
Anima Christi
Soul of Christ, sanctify me; Body of Christ, save me; Blood of Christ, inebriate me; Water from the side of Christ, wash me; Passion of Christ, strengthen me; O good Jesus, hear me; within Your wounds, hide me; let me never be separated from You; from the evil one, protect me; at the hour of my death, call me; and bid me to come to You; that with Your saints, I may praise you forever and ever. Amen.

Hello, my name is Margo. When I was 23 years old and working as a part-time nanny in New York City I had the pleasure of caring for a little 5-year-old boy named Alexander. One day I had been overcome with sadness and in a weak moment, I found myself confiding to this little boy about a friend I couldn't find because he was lost. Alexander, quickly responded without missing a beat, “Follow a trail!” [

Oh, Margo…was hoping things would get better. Will continue to storm heaven for you. I can hear your frustration. The Church in Europe and elsewhere pays attention to spiritual warfare, but not in the USA. People want a “Cotton Candy” religion…no mention of sin or the evil one. The devil’s greatest weapon is mankind’s ignorance of him. As for the priest who is ignoring you…hopfully he is away on “holiday” for the month of July and will call you soon. Thanks for the post and the spiritual prayers. Although, the St. Michael prayer has been foolishly removed…we all must say it at LEAST once a day and esp. at Mass. A strong belief in God’s mercy and protection as well as the protection of Mary’s blue mantle and keeping our angels close by is our weapon against evil. N

I didn’t even know that this was a spiritual warfare prayer! When I was little, my mom taught me to say it after I received communion so I always say it then. Looks like it has more than one use. And I hope that your spiritual warfare will get better!
Margo,
I just stumbled upon your blog (from Conversion Diary?).
The first thing that came to mind when you said the priest hasn’t been returning your calls, is wondering if they weren’t demonically deleted? (I’m new to this, so that might be ridiculous… I don’t know.) Either that or he is extremely busy. I hope he gets back to you soon.
I’ll keep you in my prayers.
Margo,
I realize you posted this in August and it is now October, and I haven’t read through all of your posts yet. But, I want to encourage you to keep fighting as I am sure you will despite the frustration of encountering silence and disbelief from others. I myself have endured 6 years of Spiritual Warfare. It is not as bad now as it was in the beginning, but it does take perseverance and commitment.
I am not catholic, nor do I belong to any specific denomination, so if I offer a suggestion that you are uncomfortable with please feel free to reject it. The Father G. you refer to, if you can contact him again may also be able to help with ministering personal deliverance which is important if you have in the past made some mistakes that you need to renounce, soul ties to cut, curses to break, or close doors that you may have opened. I understand that there are charismatic catholics who understand deliverance ministry, which is not the same as exorcism, and can be done by the laity.
The blessed salt and holy water are good, but you can also get 9 (although most only use
St. Benedict medals, have them blessed and bury one at each of the four corners of your property with another one in between each corner, the ninth is buried in the center of your property. Anoint all of your windows and doors with blessed oil, and don’t forget every mirror, TV screen, and computer screen. If possible, put a crucifix or cross over every door. You can also put a blessed St. Michael’s medal in each of the four corners of your home and one over each door. Dedicate your home and property to God as a Christian household.
Protestants such as myself would also “plead the blood of Jesus,” which for you would be to pray the Litany of the most precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. This Litany is recommended by Father Amorth in his book, “An Exorcist: More Stories,” along with other prayers. You may have these in your Spiritual Warfare book, but I don’t have that book and so I’m not sure what prayers it contains.
Further, when you feel the attack of the enemy, unexplained depression, anxiety, fear, confusion, panic attacks, unwanted thoughts, etc., rebuke these feelings or thoughts in the name of Jesus and command them to leave immediately. Address it as “spirit of _____, I rebuke you and command you to leave my mind (or emotions) in the name of Jesus.” Don’t give it any place in your thoughts or feelings. Resist it until it leaves. You may have to do this a few times to let them know that you are serious, but they will usually leave after the third rebuke. If they come back, rebuke them again. They will try to make you believe that what you are doing is not working, but it will work if you are persistent. Bring every thought captive in obedience to Christ. As a Christian you have the authority to do this for yourself, your children, or anything else that you are responsible for, including your pets. Pray over your dog and rebuke the spirit that is tormenting him in the name of Jesus and command it to leave your dog alone.
Any time you feel or notice unusual things, such as strange odors, noises, shadows, objects moving, etc., command it to cease at once in the name of Jesus and to leave your home immediately.
Besides the books by Fr. Amorth, there are two books on deliverance by Neal Lozano who is a catholic deliverance minister. “Unbound,” and “Resist the devil.” Another book by a catholic ex-priest is one by Francis McNutt called, “Deliverance from evil spirits.”
I hope this is helpful and not a redundancy of information you are already familiar with.
God bless you.
