This is Part Three of a true story that took place on 109th Street around ten years ago when I was living in Manhattan. I posted 109th Street (Part One) a couple of days ago and yesterday I posted Part Two. I am realizing that the story is way too long to continue posting in separate parts on this blog; it won’t read well if it’s all chopped up in pieces. So I decided to cut out some parts and edit it down to the end, and this is where I left off yesterday.
By the way, my sister was funny – she was teasing me the other day, asking me what this crazy story has to do with praying the Rosary. Technically? Nothing. But it’s the path in life I took that brought me to where I am now. This story, along with many others, was just another stepping stone on

The other day I posted this entry which is actually a repost from a three-part series I wrote back in the Fall of 2010. I’m continuing here with Part Two.

For those of you who haven’t yet read 109th Street, this is Part Two:
I wondered how my hot shot project manager boyfriend from the hot shot construction company could even allow us to live under conditions such as these. But I said nothing. I just took a lot of mental notes, not the least of which was the fact that Frankie’s boss, Vito, had, out of the goodness of his heart, allowed Frankie to move in to this rat hole, charging him half of the rent that he claimed he could’ve gotten from anyone else. I supposed that Frankie had wanted me to believe this was some kind of generous gesture on Vito’s part. Though he never said words to that effect, … [Read More...]

Lately I’ve been attempting to create a resume that best reflects my skills and talents, highlighting the most important aspects of my employment history dating back to the early 1990s. I thought the task would be a breeze, but I’ve been finding out otherwise. I seem to be caught between the job titles of Public Relations, Sales, and Writer and can’t quite figure out how to present myself in a way that will enable me to be marketable in a variety of fields.
I’ve been thinking back on the last two decades of my life, realizing that the stuff that has made up my life – and in the most veritable sense, I might add – isn’t exactly *resume material*, and certainly does not in any way represent the professional profile of a desirable job candidate in today’s world. In fact, as the memories pop to life from some dark, abandoned corner of my mind, I find myself all too … [Read More...]

I’ve noticed that when I Google the words Catholic Church Scandals 6,600 global monthly searches pop up. And yet, when I Google the words Protestant Church Scandals only 46 global monthly searches pop up. Jewish Synagogue Scandals gets 0 (zero) searches, and Muslim Mosque Scandals is also 0 (zero.) I never really stopped to think (until now) about the fact that the Catholic Church scandals are really the only scandals we hear about in anything religion-based. I mean, I suppose there must be other scandals involving other religions, but it’s so weird to me that the Catholic Church scandals are the only ones with an astronomical Google search count.
Catholics Are Creating Catholic Church Scandals
Another thing I’ve taken notice of since starting my blog last June is the way in which some Catholics (many of whom are bloggers) with a significant online presence think nothing of bashing other Catholics whenever something negative in … [Read More...]

I was looking over past entries from a year ago when I came across this one. As I read through the post, I saw the part where I was quoting Father Corapi who was discussing the attack on the priesthood and related matters. It’s so strange now looking back and realizing that this post was written only months before Father Corapi had his crisis. Only a matter of several weeks later, unbeknownst to me or any of us at the time, his life would be turned upside down and he would become the focus of the very subject he frequently spoke about.

In this dark era of chaotic change and moral breakdown, we are urged to pray for priests, bishops and of course, our Pope. I had originally planned on writing a follow-up post to my latest post which discusses diabolic infestation, but then realized that I wanted to take this in a … [Read More...]

In our daily struggle to maintain a strong faith and love for our neighbor, it is very easy to accidentally slip into a state of false compassion. It seems that we often find ourselves more bothered and preoccupied by the suffering of someone that we know and love rather than by our own suffering. Why is that? Why do we risk losing our peace of mind and heart over the problems of someone else? Is it because we are truly saddened by the other person’s suffering or is it because that person’s suffering is inflicting us with the fear of suffering ourselves?
Compassion for our fellow human beings is a necessary virtue in order to advance toward our salvation. As Christians, we are all called to prayer and works of charity; we’re all called to love one another as ourselves. But when this true compassion is mistaken for false compassion and fear and anxiety … [Read More...]

I was watching Women of Grace the other night which airs on the EWTN network and is hosted by Johnnette Benkovic. She and her guests were discussing some morally adverse issues facing young girls and parents of young girls in today’s world. Much of the discussion was wrapped around the topic of sexualization and pornification of women, starting with little girls as young as three years old and even younger.
The show reminded me of a post I’d written a year ago about the breakdown of the family and the alarming state of decline society is sinking into as it allows and even promotes the pedophilia chic concept to take root in our culture, like a weed in an unattended garden. Why isn’t there more being done about this blatant danger? We scream and rage for more child protection laws and services, and yet the sexualization of children – girls and boys – that can be witnessed around the globe … [Read More...]

Yesterday I wrote a post called Fatima Story and indicated that I’d continue with the rest of it in the next few posts. I have become newly attracted to the Fatima story message and simply want to share my enthusiasm with the people (you) whom I care about. It isn’t as if I hadn’t been familiar with Our Lady of Fatima all along. But I guess it’s more like I’ve taken a sort of new interest in its significance in our lives today vs. simply appreciating its mysterious appeal as viewed through a Hollywood movie that was filmed over 50 years ago.
For me, the Fatima story has become a sort of wake-up call for the world of today. It is as if Our Lady is illuminating our lives with an old story being retold with modern day insight and appeal. I’m not sure I’m making any sense here, but hopefully if you read … [Read More...]

All Catholics probably have their own individual impression of the Fatima story. By that I mean that when we hear the word “Fatima” or reflect upon its mark in history where Our Lady is concerned, a certain thought, prayer, image, statue, movie, etc. most likely goes through our minds; we immediately associate the Fatima story with whatever it is that most impressed us about Our Lady of Fatima.
When I think of the Fatima story the first thing that comes to my mind is the three children: Lucia, Francisco and Jacinta. My first exposure to the Fatima story was some time around the age of seven or eight. I saw an old movie (probably the first of the Fatima movies) that was filmed in 1952. Actually, I’m not sure there were any follow-ups, though I believe there is a new one soon to be released. I think what most interested me at that young … [Read More...]

The Pennsylvania exorcist priest is coming to my house on Thursday. As you may recall my saying in a previous post, he’d gotten into a really bad car accident a few months ago and therefore, wasn’t able to plan a trip. In fact, his accident occurred only a day or so after he’d made up his mind to come to my house the following week. Anyway, he’s coming on Thursday and I’m hopeful that I’ll finally be turning a corner and getting some peace in my home.
I haven’t written much about the demonic affliction issues lately because I’m trying not to give the topic more attention than is absolutely necessary. I welcome your comments, questions, feedback – whatever – but lately it’s been difficult for me to actually sit down and write a whole post about it. I still have stuff going on, and sometimes I don’t feel like talking about it; other times I do.
Also, I’ve been … [Read More...]
